A warm welcome to Katie Seitter

We have all read cheesy quotes about the journey being more significant than our destination, but I have to admit that in this case meeting Katie was a perfect example of that. We both attended The School of Advertising Art in Dayton, and with a booming class of 100 we were bound to cross each others paths. It wasn’t until two years, two moves, and two prospective BFA’s at the Columbus College of Art and Design later that we grew close. I admired her illustrative eye and keen sense of simplicity in her design from the start. After placing second in the 2010 Victoria’s Secret Packaging Design Competition, I knew we made a great team.

A couple of years later Katie and I crossed paths again in the professional world when Cultiva was looking for another designer with a fresh outlook. I immediately thought of Katie Seitter. I am thrilled to announce our newest employee and congratulate my dear friend!

It’s a Christmas card.

Christmas is a time where Christians celebrate the coming of Christ. Cultiva is very blessed and proud to do business with Trupointe, a company that allows the Christmas message to be sent to their customers in a holiday card. To them, it is not just a holiday, it is Christmas and this is a Christmas card.

Trupointe’s brand standard document introduces the principles that guide their company. The very first principle is to “Do what’s right by God.” Well, we think they’ve done just that.

Mended Hearts Beating are number one fundraiser team at weekend event

On September 30th thousands of walkers and runners in central Ohio came together to support the millions of people impacted by congenital heart disease at the 2012 Congenital Heart Walk. Congratulations to Mended Hearts Beating for ranking number one as a team and fundraiser. Their enthusiasm and courage continues to inspire the cause. Cultiva was happy to take part in providing t-shirt designs with the impactful statement “We can conquer.”

Growing the Cure brand launch at Farm Science Review

We are working together to fight cancer through food research. This statement truly solidifies the group effort the five cooperatives of Growing the Cure and Cultiva have put toward raising awareness of the food-based cancer research being done at OSU’s comprehensive cancer center and Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. The brand launch kicked off Tuesday September 18th at Farm Science Review followed by a check for over $103,000 the group presented. Cultiva is proud to have contributed with the development of this identity and hope others will agree that it is nice to put a face with a name. Below noteworthy OSU representatives and participating cooperatives celebrate throwing seeds up into the air.

We are Growing the Cure

It’s all coming together. The word is out and our brand development has given Growing the Cure a voice. While Dr. Steven Clinton (the leading researcher, medical oncologist and physician scientist at Ohio State) and his team of supporters had planned to ride in Pelotonia 12, they made a last minute switch of attire to the first-ever-worn-in-public Growing the Cure tshirts.

Growing the Cure is a joint effort of five agricultural cooperatives to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and to support the unique working relationship between researchers at The James Cancer Hospital, the agricultural college at The Ohio State University and farmers working together to prove that Food Fights Cancer. The full program will launch to the public at the Farm Science Review 2012.

Each of the five co-ops are donating $.05 per unit of soybean seed and $.10 per unit of corn seed sold to benefit the Cooperatives for the Cure of Cancer Fund at The Ohio State University. This fund was established in 2009 to support food based research at the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and the James Cancer Hospital.

Cultiva office dogs

Harley, also known as “the office manager”, has some competition here at the office. Meet Bella, the fetching all American Bulldog with the face of a heart breaker. Don’t be fooled by her bashful appearance, she has plans for this agency. Let the games begin. Will the French and American join forces or will a new top dog be named? Stay tuned for an update.

A true appreciation

It has been more than 100° in Ohio, but for the farmers and workers in wheat fields the temperature has been more like 120° and higher. Today as we were sitting in our comfortable room temperature offices, my farmer husband sends me the most beautiful image of the work they’ve been doing and I’m immediately jealous. Because even though he loaded bales of straw by hand onto a 45-foot trailer (a misery i would wish on no-one), we all missed this breathtaking image.

Many of us miss the beauty of the world that’s around, I am just blessed to have the opportunity to be married to a farmer. Enjoy this image taken by his iPhone! Jackie Call

The best part of seeing our site come to fruition is that it embodies the goals we set out for ourselves—to have a site that is simplistic, communicates clearly and has an underlying bit of energy.
